Acerbis Handguards and Vista Cruise Throttle Lock
Kevin Kollar
Just a quick review of the installation I did for the Vista Cruise throttle lock and
Acerbis Rally Guards.
I mounted the throttle lock very similar to Wes's installation,
it was pretty straight forward and works great. I also added a thin plastic disk/washer
inside of the cable housing to take up the excess slop in
the grip - it moved in and out on the bar to much to me. I added superbike foam grips
also.
The Rally Guards were a bit more trouble, the inside mount wanted to be positioned on the
short riser section of the handlebar, this placed the whole guard at an upward angle of 30
degrees or so. To correct it, I heated the guard using a portable halogen light - 500
watts! This softened the guard after about five minutes and allowed it to easily bend into
position at the bar end. I just held it in place, shut off
the light and held it for a few minutes until it cooled. It looks like it was supposed to
go that way. I added the wind deflectors and covered the big logos with black reflective
tape. I got the black guards. It
all looks good - much subtler than I thought it would.
With the grips and guards, vibration at the 4000ish buzzy spot feels lessened and the
mirrors don't fuzz up as much. All and all, I'm happy with the changes.
